The Hit List – May 2014

the hit list may 2014

I’m in denial at how fast this year is flying by.  HOW IS IT JUNE?

May was, by far, my busiest month of the year.  It was filled with some truly extraordinary experiences (filming a packing series for About.com, hosting a trunk show, entertaining a TON at our new apartment).

Naturally, I made some pretty incredible discoveries as well.

I’ve been on a podcast spree this year, and the Nerdette podcast is a newly discovered one that I’m obsessed with.  Each episode is 30 minutes, which is timed perfectly with my “getting ready for the day” routine.  It’s an entertaining and educational way to kick off the morning.  On the random obsession of the month front, it’s all about the Tudor dynasty.  Reading Le Temps Viendra re-ignited my interest in that era, which led to a TV binge of The Tudors (and my husband’s new addiction with the era).  I also picked up needlepoint again, which has helped curb the propensity to stuffing my face with food while watching TV.  I’m nearly finished with this little project, and am looking for my next one.  I can’t-stop-won’t-stop wearing silk pants or boyfriend jeans (love these too!) – comfortable, stylish, and ideal for those days when my legs aren’t perfectly smooth.  Paired with a blouse or tee and my Cuyana for Real Simple scarf, and you have my go-to outfit for May.  As the weather warms up, I swap my leather totes for something lighter.  This Everlane tote has been my bag du jour, and I can’t recommend it more highly.  Tata Harper graciously sent me their hydrating floral essence, and I’m hooked.  It’s quickly become a ritual (I spray after cleansing and before moisturizing), and my skin has thanked me.  We’re in the home stretch of decorating our apartment (next up – PAINT!) and this gorgeous lucite table is the perfect accompaniment to my “Victoria Grayson” chair (seen here).  You know, where I plot the downfall of innocent people.  Or just sit and read in the mornings, with a cup of tea.

Needlepoint, reading, history, and tea?  I have the interests of a retired person.

How was your May?  Make any new discoveries last month?
