This Week

You guys, I’m slightly freaking out that my Asia trip is THIS month.  We still have to finalize the tours and restaurants to try, but all the big parts (flights, hotels, car transfers) are DONE.  I can’t wait.  If you have recommendations for Shanghai, Beijing, Bali, Kuala Lumpur, and Seoul, comment below and let me know!

This week is an especially busy one – I’m jetting off to the Midwest today for a quick business trip – and snagging my 1K status for another year.  This weekend is filled with a lot of socializing, which we haven’t had in a while.  I’m looking forward to dinner at The Marshal, drinks dates at Anejo and the Wise Men, and a long-overdue cooking date with Felicia (with a yoga class thrown in there for balance).

Thank goodness next week is comparatively slow.

Onto my favorite links of the week:

  • My stomach hurts (from laughing so hard) every time I hang out with Alina.  I had the same reaction when reading her blog post about her visit to Monticello.  To be fair, it’s especially hilarious if you’re a US History buff.  It ranks high in ugly laughing territory if you think Jefferson was a giant toolbag (Alexander Hamilton FTW).
  • I’m getting back into the workout swing of things.  Pumps & Iron has been my go-to for finding workouts.  My favorites are the jump rope deck of cards routine and this kettlebell circuit.
  • Space.  The final frontier.  These are the images from the Hubble Telescope, and they’re spectacular.  Big thanks to Meg for sharing it.
  • As if I needed another reason to love Mindy Kaling.
  • Hands down, this essay was one of the best reads on entrepreneurship I’ve found.  Take her advice and snag a copy of Do The Work – you won’t regret it.
  • *READ THIS* excellent post on fitness – specifically, working in vs working out.  I admittedly fell off the workout bandwagon because my typical routine wasn’t FUN.  My husband has the other approach to fitness – he opts for crippling workouts that are EFFECTIVE.  Me?  I need to be enjoying it.  I really love this piece, and love what Liz is doing in the fitness space (check out her new program here).

What’s new with you this week?  Any exciting plans this weekend?  COMMENT below – I’d love to know!
