Style On The Go: Best Travel Shoes

It’s no secret I spend much of my time traveling.  Over the past 7 weeks, I’ve been on a plane at least once a week.  Removing my shoes in the security line and calculating the minimum number of shoes for my maximum outfits to fit in my carry-on is a science I have mastered.  Here are my favorite shoes that are comfortable, slip off and on easily in security lines, and maximize any trip’s clothing selections year-round.  Throw in a pair of running shoes and heels, and you’re set!

Tory Burch Reva Ballerina Flats ($195) – These flats, while a bit expensive, are worth every penny.  Burch has engineered a comfortable, chic flat that translates from the office to the airport.  The soles are padded, the leather is soft, and these are excellent shoes for pounding the pavement.  I would know – I wore these babies during a walk-heavy weekend in New York.

Toms Gold Glitters ($54) – I have yet to wear this shoes and not be complimented on them.  In addition to being a dream to walk in, the shiny gold material offers that little pizazz to complete a look.  Paired with a pair of boyfriend jeans, a thin tank, and an armful of my Amrita Singh bangles, the Toms complete one of my favorite spring-to-fall outfits (add a bright cardigan as needed).  The Glitters sell out fast, so make sure you submit your order ASAP (or you’ll be waiting another 3 months for new stock, like yours truly).

Converse Chuck Taylor ($40) – Chucks, to me, are synonymous with road trips, concerts, and traipsing around an unknown neighborhood on a brisk afternoon.  They’re also a cinch to kick off for the security line.  Don your Chucks if you’re headed off to a walk-heavy destination with questionable terrain (cobblestones, trails, dive bar floors).

Steve Madden “Trouser” Laceless Oxford ($70) – A recent acquisition, I adore these shoes for work (paired with a swingy skirt and a crisp blouse), for casual (shorts, a soft tee, and a jaunty hat), or for travel (they look great with my trusty black leggings and lightweight white-to-pink Ombre sweater).  A great shoe that can be worn year-round, I look forward to pair these babies with more outfits.
