Style On The Go: Rachel Zoe Computer Bag

While I’m no style icon like Jane from Sea of Shoes or Emily of Cupcakes and Cashmere fame, I do LOVE fashion.

Bags, specifically.  I am undoubtedly a bag lady.  My fiancé was shocked when he first saw my purse collection…but relented when I told him I’m on the hunt for a classic black leather messenger bag for him.

I know, I’m such a good future wife :)

Back on the bags.  I’ve been on the hunt for a great work bag for myself.  My work bag is my mobile office: it carries my laptop, documents, a Kindle, snacks, chargers…you name it.  It’s like a Mary Poppins bag.  And I can’t seem to get one to last.

The straps of my black leather Coach tote started to fray within a year.  My DVF tote’s straps didn’t even last 4 months.  A Nine West tote didn’t even last my January East Coast tour…broke at Washington Dulles, and I had to scramble and buy a black leather Fossil messenger at the Orlando airport.

The messenger has held up well, but it’s bulky, heavy, and I’m afraid further use will turn me into the Hunchback of Notre Dame.  I decided it was best to consolidate my life into a “work essentials only” bag (laptop, select documents, computer charger) and start using a bigger purse (for everything else).

And since none of bags had survived, it was time to go shopping!

I didn’t shop long, because I found the gorgeous Rachel Zoe computer bag on QVC.com and clicked “purchase” in about 15 seconds.

The bag is here, and it’s perfect.

It fits my laptop, charger, and manila folders perfectly.  It’s light, sits comfortably on my shoulder (or worn across the chest, messenger-style), and came with a great matching clutch that fits the necessities if heading from work to dinner/drinks.  The tan color is neutral to go with my entire work wardrobe (jeans/Oxford/Chucks combo in Amherst, suits and heels in Manhattan, salwar kameezes in India…it works with everything).  And I love that it looks like an oversized grandma-style purse, with the flat and the thin strap.

My new RZ laptop bag. Me love it long time.
I love the straps inside the laptop compartment that secures the computer. No need to take it out of the bag! LOVE.

And the best part?  The black messenger gets a new home…with the fiancé.  Or the father (who likes poaching my gender-neutral bags).

The rest of my life is currently residing in my Louis Speedy 20, and my back and my inner fashionista are satisfied.
