Health Hacks

8 hours of sleep in crisp Italian linen. A refreshing green juice to wake you up. Seared salmon over a bed of greens for lunch. A single glass of wine before heading back to bed.

Sounds nice, doesn’t it?

My life is a complete 180 degrees from that idyllic vision. Mornings are chugging coffee while preparing a bottle, gnawing a snack while running to the subway, and working into the night, bleary eyed. Sometimes after a glass of wine too many.

Such is my life. But it’s sustainable for now, thanks to a smattering of health hacks I’ve discovered over the years.

They’re no long night’s sleep and detoxifying menu. But they fit into the busiest of schedules and help keep you running.

Literally, running. So glad sneakers are appropriate daytime footwear again.

SLEEP - Melatonin never worked for me. Ambien worked TOO well for me (and subsequently derailed my day). Olly’s Restful Sleep chews expedite the whole ‘falling asleep’ process while leaving you refreshed after your night’s sleep. I use 1 chew for up to 5 hours of sleep, 2 if I have the rare luxury of sleeping in.

PROTEIN – Vegan jerky that tastes good couldn’t possibly exist. Well, Primal Jerky has managed to accomplish the impossible, with diverse flavors like Mesquite Lime (my favorite!) and Thai Peanut. With 10 grams of protein in every serving, it’s an ideal post-workout snack. Or snack in general.

GREENS – I prefer my greens in smoothie or juice form over a salad. And there are days when busting out the blender or running to the store for a fresh juice are out of the question. Enter ALOHA, with drinkable greens in berry and chocolate that require no blender and manage to taste great.

HANGOVERS – Yes way, rosé usually means yes way, pounding head. Grab yourself some crackers, a coconut water, and Blowfish – a dissolvable aspirin, antacid and caffeine tablet that will help expedite the hangover recovery process. Follow it up with an ALOHA greens when your stomach has settled, and go about your day!

BEAUTY – Who doesn’t want to be more beautiful AND doesn’t have time for the gym, healthy meals, and lots of sleep? Enter Olly Undeniable Beauty, a tasty grapefruit chew that can potentially give you brighter eyes, bouncier hair, clear skin. Bonus – it tastes really great.

DIGESTION – Few things are worse than a day of indulgent eating and not being able to ‘dispose’ of it. We’ve all been there. Dieter’s Green Tea is your savior for days when your digestive system needs a little help to get things moving. Sip a cup of this caffeine-free brew before bed for a, well, invigorating morning.

All of these products are great. But I want to share more about Olly.

I’ve never been good about taking vitamins on a regular basis. I just…forget.

I’ve tried all the tricks – keeping them next to my breakfast foods, placing the next day’s pills in a little ramekin next to my water glass on the nightstand, opting for chewable ones.

Inevitably, the vitamin jars get shuffled to the back of the pantry. I forget to set out the vitamins the night before, and the next night, and the next. The chewy vitamins I opted for emitted a weird smell.

I’ve been on my Olly regimen for a solid 4 weeks now (and yes, with a day or two missed). I keep them in the medicine cabinet in my bathroom, and pop my multivitamin gummies and chew while I make my bed. I grab two beauty chews and savor them while I head to the kitchen to pop in a Nespresso pod and slosh milk in the frother.

And on the days when Rho wakes up screaming, I attend to him and holler at my husband to bring me the day’s chews so I can summon the energy to tackle his diaper. Because I NEED it.

My vitamin regimen and mornings may be far from perfect – but they work. I’ve noticed an uptick in my energy levels, increased focus, and just feeling better.

If perfect is what you want (and by perfect, I mean a spa getaway for you and a friend, a consultation with a nutritionist, and a 6 month supply of Olly vitamins), then I suggest to click this way to enter Olly’s Sweet Bliss sweepstakes.

And if you have any health hacks of your own, be a star and COMMENT below. Sharing is caring. Especially when it comes to staying healthy, on the go.

Disclosure - I’m not a medical professional, so please talk to your doctor if you have questions about any of these products (Olly vitamins and Blowfish, specifically) to see if they would be right for you.
