Reading List – Summer Screen Edition

As always, good movies and television shows are based off great books. Two books I devoured this summer are The Help and Game of Thrones.

It took me a while to get around to reading The Help, but not long to finish it. I truly enjoyed this new perspective on Southern race relations, and am even more excited to see Emma Stone bring the character of Skeeter to life. It’s a quick read, so make sure to pick up the book before heading to the theater.

My husband’s friend highly recommended the HBO show, Game of Thrones, back in June. I spent that entire weekend watching the first season of the show via OnDemand – it’s that good. Though I watched the first season before picking up the corresponding novel, I enjoyed the book equally (if not more) and am now working my way through Martin’s addictive series.

I’ve also indulged in some more frivolous reading, which I include in this post as the Royal Wedding was just a few months ago…and also because I quite enjoy reading about the Duchess’ style (judge if you will, but I know Carol agrees with me on this). It’s a nice balance to the technical reading I’ve done for work this summer, as evidenced by the clinical trials book in my Kindle app.
