Reading List – Book Crack

I had every intention of writing up the blog posts I promised here.  I really did.

But then I downloaded the books mentioned below, and was rendered useless from Friday evening until…well, this morning.  They are addictive, juicy, and should only be opened when you’re willing to lose all productivity until you finish them.  Reading these books rivaled my addiction to the Millennium and Hunger Games trilogies – if not exceeded them.

Fifty Shades of GrayAlyson‘s review was the reason I purchased the book in the first place, though I didn’t get around to reading it until Friday.  After devouring the first book by Saturday morning, I quickly bought the second and third, and didn’t lift my head until I finished the last word Sunday evening (I made exceptions for food and sleep).  A steamy, well-written, and bodice-ripping set of books, I had to take the occasional break to calm down.  This series is SEXY, and a refreshing change from the less entertaining non-fiction books I’ve been recently reading.  Get these books – and prepare to be their “submissive” until you’re done.

Eighteen Acres and It’s Classified – I became intrigued by Nicolle Wallace after watching Game Change (multiple times – it’s that good) on HBO, and immediately downloaded her first novel, Eighteen Acres, after seeing it mentioned on Wikipedia.  The beautifully written books, chronicling the relationships of the first female US president and two other high-powered women, provided the perfect  break from Fifty Shades (and vice versa).  I wrapped up It’s Classified just this morning (and woke up an hour early to do so).

And now that I’ve wrapped up a literary weekend, it’s time to power through as much work as possible before packing and jetting off to New Orleans for the week – I’m attending a symposium, but am squeezing in a few tours and a cooking class before my husband joins me for the weekend.  Please let me know if you have any recommendations on where to eat/see/play/shop!
