Why I Can’t Stop Wearing The #MACPadma Makeup Collection

It was a first for me.

I bought most of the #MACPadma collection on a whim, after watching this video and reading this interview. And I’m so glad I did.

It’s one of the first times that every product matched my skin tone perfectly. It also got me to push my makeup limits and try some new things.

A dark lip that I’m kind of obsessed with. Subtle eyeliner colors that make my eyes pop. Brushes that are as functional as they are beautiful.

Here’s how I’ve been wearing the collection every day, and how I zhush it up for night.

Day

The base routine for my face hasn’t changed at all. I apply Peter Thomas Roth primer, Laura Geller and Wander Beauty concealer, and Wander’s powder foundation while spritzing my face between every step.

Using the angled brush, I lightly sweep the matte color from the Moon & Shine duo upwards from my cheekbones on both sides. I tap the highlighter on the apples of my cheeks. Using the same brush, I apply the highlighter down the center of my nose and just above my lips. Spritz again.

I line the bottom waterline with the Molé or Indian Ink end of the Powerpoint Eye  Pencil, and follow it up with Wander Beauty mascara.

I apply Nude Fudge on my lips, topping it with a bit of Glossier balm dot calm.

Night

I retouch my cheeks with the Moon & Shine duo, adding a little more bronzer and highlighter as needed. I apply the bronzer to the top corners of my forehead and the sides of my chin.

With the angled shading brush, I brush the bronzer all over my eyelid and the space above it. I spritz with this spray and let it set.

With the large end of this brush, I apply highlighter all over the eyelid. Using the Boudeauxline 0r Mossy Green end of the eye pencil, I gently pencil in the crease of my eyelid, and blend using the blending end of this brush.

I swipe Sumac or Blue Blood on my lips, blotting well and finishing with a layer of Glossier balm dot com.

The colors in the collection are subtle enough to look great on everyone, but it matches my skin tone perfectly. The lipsticks are a bit drying, so exfoliate and moisturizer your lips well prior to applying it. I also recommend a light hand with the bronzer/highlighter – it can cake onto your skin if you have a heavy hand. The brushes have great pickup and blend the product beautifully, and I’m obsessed with all of the eye liners. They’re a nice departure from my usual black eyeliner, and highlight brown eyes beautifully.

Thank you, #MACPadma, for giving me a collection that makes me excited about doing my makeup. And for shaking me out of my usual beauty rut.

Fingers crossed for another one. And another one…and another.

I pack my makeup in this silk cosmetic bag, and this brush is my absolute favorite tool. I share a beauty post or outfit every Wednesday. You can find them all here.Â
