How I Met My Fiance

Alright, no judgement, but I pulled this off the wedding website I’ve been working on.  Still a severe work in progress, but I accept any comments/suggestions on the website and the writing for the “How We Met.”

Life is constantly a mix of work, grad school (last week of class, with my project due tomorrow and finals this weekend), and wedding planning (many many India trips in the works before December 30th).  I will do my best to get back on the blogging bandwagon, but I warn you that it will involve a LOT of wedding talk…you have been warned.

Anyway, here it is: How I Met My Fiance

He bought me coffee throughout the weekend and was impressed by my sari skills. No wonder I was smitten right off the bat.

In 2009, Sri and Hitha were both active leaders in NetIP (Network of Indian Professionals). At the North America conference in Toronto over Labor Day weekend, Sri introduced himself to Hitha after the board meeting with a smooth “Hi, I haven’t met you yet…” They chatted for a bit and went their separate ways.

The next day, after the first session, Sri approached Hitha again and smoothly said “Hi, I haven’t met you yet…”

Hitha promptly replied “Yes you have. I met you yesterday and you used that same line!”

After laughing it off, the two chatted until they realized their friends had ditched them and headed to the lunch line. Sri and Hitha continued the conversation in that line, into that afternoon over coffee, into the evening at the NetIP event at Solarium, and throughout the next day and night.

They left Toronto with each other’s phone numbers and promises to keep the conversation running. They kept their promises with hours-long conversations that began that Monday night and continued throughout the week. By Sunday, they knew this was something special and decided to take the plunge into a relationship.

And the rest, they say, is history.
