Travel Luxuries

I’m one of those bizarre people who actually enjoys the flying aspect of travel.

Well, I hate delays, cancelled flights, and middle seats as much as the next person.  But every since I was a child, I always looked forward to the journey of the trips we would take – and sometimes more than our actual destination.

These days, my time spent up in the air is more out of necessity than wonder.  But I also make enough money to invest in a few items that make the entire experience much more enjoyable – my travel luxuries, if you will.  Some I own and SWEAR by, and others are on my I-will-own-you-eventually wish list.  (see more of my travel luxuries here)

Now, those times that I look forward to the destination?  They usually involve staying in some sort of luxurious hotel or resort, which ranks among my top 3 weaknesses (ranking up there with Taco Bell and getting my hair blown out).  I can be a bit of a MAJOR brat if a hotel isn’t up to my standards.  And thanks to my jetset career, I’ve managed to rack up gold status on all the major hotel chains – Hilton, Marriott, Starwood, and Hyatt.

Among my favorite luxury properties are the Conrad Hotels, by Hilton.  The rooms are beautifully appointed – think beds you don’t want to get out of and toiletries you will smuggle out of the hotel with you.  The variety of restaurants are impressive, and the attentive staff will always cater to your random requests without blinking an eye (like my morning hot lemon water, breakfasts of oatmeal with Tabasco or my husband’s egg-white-omelette-no-oil).  My husband loves the high-end gym that rivals ours at home, and I love to lock myself in the spa for a long massage.  We’ll be staying at Conrad’s newly opened Beijing hotel NEXT month (eek!), and I couldn’t be more excited.

Never stayed at a Conrad hotel?  Here’s your chance to stay at one of their properties, for FREE.

It’s called #ConradCarryOn, and here’s how to participate:

  • Create your own ‘Conrad Carry On’ Pinterest board (see Conrad’s board here), and add your travel luxuries to it using the hashtag #conradcarryon
  • Enter your information in this form
  • Keep adding pins using the hashtag #conradcarryon

Good luck!

Let’s daydream a bit – what are some travel luxuries you are yearning for, but haven’t been able to purchase yet?  If you win, which Conrad property would you choose to stay in?  For me, I’m yearning for the Smythson passport wallet and those Lanvin sneakers (expect a DIY soon), and I’d stay in the Conrad Punta del Este or Pezula).

The fine print – this post was sponsored by Conrad Hotels, for which I was compensated.  However, I only partner with brands (such as Conrad Hotels and parent company Hilton) I love and am a loyal customer of.  Thank you to the brands and you, the readers, that keep Hitha On The Go running – I love you all!
