Obsessed with Organization

While reading Julie Morgenstern’s Organizing from the Inside Out, I’ve been getting the sudden itch to get home and start enacting the lessons I’ve taken from the book and putting them in action.  Upon arriving home, I plan to do a final weed through of my wardrobe (including shoes and bags), organize the stacks of papers on my desk, and begin implementing a weekly need/dump flushing of documents, e-mails, etc.  I highly recommend this book for people who need to develop an organization discipline (and so does my favorite workout maven, Tracy Anderson – check out her blog post with an interview with Julie).

E-mail organization needs to start now.  My work inbox is steadily growing in the upper thousands, and action needs to be taken.  Soon.  (If any of you have tips on keeping your inboxes clear, please share!)

Here are some products I’m planning on purchasing to keep my organized self in check.

Pottery Barn’s chic over-the-desk organization system lets you pick and choose what you need.  (This will be a post-marriage, new apartment purchase)

West Elm’s clear shoeboxes keeps your shoes organization and easy to find.

Ikea’s scarf and belt hangers neatly store all your beloved accessories.

Razor Thin Hangers from Bed, Bath, and Beyond maximize your closet space.

Bamboo under-the-bed storage boxes store your non-seasonal clothes within an arm’s reach.

Once I have everything organized with these tools, I’ll be sure to post “after” pictures (the “before” is simply too frightening).

What products do you use to stay organized?  How often do you “purge” your desk, wardrobes, e-mails?
