Splurge or Steal – D’Orsay Flats

Splurge or Steal D'Orsay FlatsMy shopping philosophy has consistently been to splurge on the necessities, and take advantage of steals on trendy items.

My problem is that I can justify nearly anything as a necessity.  However, marriage and the need to save money for more pertinent things (rainy day fund, future home) have forced me to rethink what I consider style needs.

Given that I’m in flats 90% of the time, I used to invest in the best ones I could afford.  It resulted in a large basket housing over 20 pairs of the comfortable shoes, which now sit in our entryway.  New flats have firmly entered the “steal” category – just as a slew of new styles hit the shops.  The D’Orsay style is one that caught my eye from the get go – especially the Jenni Kayne one, which is available in my signature teal.

Thank goodness for ShoeMint Audrey, which is nearly identical and boasts both printed and solid styles (am currently debating the lively ikat print or the rich cobalt blue).  I’d get both, but my 500 square foot apartment can’t handle a new flats basket.

Talk to me – which shoe would you purchase?  Do you have a unique way of storing an overflowing shoe collection?  And most importantly, is there a specific style or item you’d love to find a “steal” for?  Chat with me in the comments below!
