On The Go

November 12, 2013

- Banana Republic trench, Hunter Dixon blouse, Rag & Bone jeans,
Fendi bag, Sole Society shoes & cuff c/o -

Remember when I talked about my pursuit of a uniform?  And how silk blouses would be a major part of it?

I took that to heart.  By quickly amassing a collection of breezy blouses that I live in (that is, when I’m not in sweatpants while working from home).  They are my mainstay for meetings, short or long flights, and even on date night when I can’t think of anything else to wear.  Silk blouses – you’ve made dressing a hell of a lot easier.

A new entrant in my uniform (for this season, at least) - these Sole Society booties.  BUY THEM.  Besides being absurdly comfortable (I walked between three terminals in Chicago O’Hare in these babies, suitcase and tote in tow), they go with absolutely everything – a dress & tights, flared jeans & a flannel blouse topped with a fur vest, or with my staple skinny jeans and a blouse.

Work or travel, this is one uniform I’ll be wearing for quite some time…

- Banana Republic trench, Margaret O’Leary sweater c/o, Old Navy pants,
Adia Kibur necklace, Bauble Bar bracelet, Coach watch, River Island loafers -

When it was long, my usual love-hate relationship with my hair was mostly hate.  Unless it was professionally blown out or thrown up in a sock bun, it was pretty much a disaster.  This new haircut, though, has returned the love back to my hair relationship.  Now, if only I could get my hair to look like this again.

The weather has been less than desirable as of late here in NYC – the fact that we still have to don jackets in May is, quite frankly, absurd.  Especially coming off the heels of hot, humid weather from last Friday.  If one must wear clothes better suited for March, my beloved Old Navy pants and my new favorite sweater from Margaret O’Leary fit the bill.  Which I apparently wore backwards.

What’s one thing about this season that’s been getting you down?  The weather, for me, takes the cake.  Give me 70 degrees and sun for the foreseeable future, and I’ll be thrilled.

When I Grow Up

May 6, 2013

- Zara vest, Joe Fresh blouse (similar), ASOS pants,
Bauble Bar necklace c/o, Alexander Wang shoes, vintage bag -

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I had some pretty eclectic choices – the stereotypical doctor (thank you, Indian parents), a fashion designer, a boss lady, working with my Dad.  My most random of choices was Mr. T from the A-Team – a gig that involved driving a van in all sorts of stunts and wearing lots of jewelry sounded pretty sweet to my 6-year old self.

This outfit, unintentionally, captures the whole boss lady/Mr. T look, I think.  It also shows off my sweet new Alexander Wang shoes – a present to myself for hitting several goals, both in my day job and in this blog.

When I think about the “what do I want to be when I grow up?” question now – it’s exactly what I am.  Pharmaceutical boss lady, packing extraordinaire, and author of a little blog I’m quite proud of.  And accessorized in a way that I think Mr. T would approve of.

As a kid, what was the most random career you wanted to have when you grew up?  COMMENT below and let me know!
