Summer-Proof Beauty Essentials

New York – blazingly hot.  India – slightly cooler, but blazingly humid.

These weather conditions immediately result in makeup meltdown – not a pretty sight.

I am, by no means, a beauty blogger or expert (I leave that to the more capable hands of The Glossarie, Jenn Falik and Carolyn Hsu), but when I find products that work, I’m more than happy to share them.

And these selections, dear friends, work.  More than sweatproof, they are summer-proof – and will work well beyond this hot season.  Most are also readily available at your local drug store.  Win!

Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream – BBs (beauty balms) boast a number of skin benefits. And that’s all well and good, but I love this particular one for its good coverage, mattifying texture, and the fact that it lasts all day.  A solid win. ($7.50)

YSL Touche Eclat – The gold standard for concealer.  Pricy, but it lasts a long time and nothing works better.  And trust me – I’ve tried everything. ($22.50)

Physicians Formula Cashmere Wear Bronzer – Because the aforementioned BB is so mattefying, I skip the powder and pick up this bronzer to contour my cheekbones and chin line.  This bronzer offers the perfect amount of sun-kissed color and also lasts each and every hot, muggy day. ($14)

L’Oreal Voluminous Smoldering Eyeliner and Million Lashes Mascara – I feel naked without a swipe of bold eyeliner and a coat of mascara, and rarely leave the house without it.  This eyeliner was a recommendation from Jenn, who promised it would be just as good as the Lakme kohl pencils I would smuggle back from India.  Fact – it’s better.  It goes on cleanly and lasts all day, and comes off only with my Almay eye-makeup removers.  The same goes for the mascara.  ($9 for eyeliner, $7 for mascara)

Maybelline Baby Lips + Revlon Lip Butter – My final makeup step.  I’ve been a nude/sheer lip girl forever, but have been dipping my toe into bright lip territory this season.  A healthy application of Baby Lips, plus a dab of Lip Butter in Tutti Frutti with my finger gives my pout the perfect amount of color.  ($3 for Baby Lips, $6.50 for Lip Butter)
