Central Park Chic

“It’s hot as balls,” I grumbled, getting out of the cab at 61st and Central Park West.  Looking up the stairs at the blissfully air-conditioned Jean-Georges (where our dinner reservation was still 90 minutes away), I turned on my heel for the Manhattan’s refuge, Central Park.

Under the shade, with an iced tea in hand and no newspaper/book to delve into, I plopped onto a bench in a huff.  The work day had been intense, and I attempted to erase the day’s stress with pink and sequins – a habit I fell into at the age of 6 (the worse you feel, the prettier your outfit must be).

Parents chased after the kids, dogs trotted by with their owners, and I simply sat – taking in the warm dusk air and letting the world around me blur in its activity.

Sometimes, all you need is a moment to sit still.  In a sequined dress and heels.

My phone buzzes.  It’s my husband.  “Babe, where are you?  I’m here”
“Just walking over now….be right there.”

It was a wonderful dinner, both in food and company.  Sometimes, all you need are some sparkles, some laughs, and a solid meal.
