When I’m not working from home, the meetings and conferences I attend for work are conservative and male-dominated.  By virtue of my age and gender, I already stand out from the middle-aged men milling about.  So when it comes to dressing for these meetings and conferences, I play it up in an appropriate, tasteful manner, outlined in these dress-for-work rules:

1.  You already stand out – so don’t shy away from colors and prints.  Paired together, preferebly.
2.  Keep the hair and makeup simple.  Always.
3.  The busier the outfit, the more simple the accessories.

My gold “daily jewelry” gets a lot of wear – my Coach watch, monogrammed necklace, and a variety of stud earrings in the sunny metal.  Come summer, I favor icy silver and white gold over the champagne-colored metal.  This beautiful diamond necklace was generously gifted to me by Anjolee, a fantastic company that specializes in custom diamond jewelry.  I’ve spent far too much time on their website and iPhone apps looking at jewelry (namely a diamond bracelet – a birthday gift, maybe?).  Their pieces are of impeccable quality and design, and many fall under my ideal “work jewelry” category – simple, elegant, and timeless.  In addition to looking for myself, I have my eye on a diamond pendant (or three) to give to my mother as a birthday gift.
