5 Holiday Party Outfits

I love a party. Holiday ones are no exception.

And my husband’s boss throws an exceptionally good one.

There was champagne and margaritas. There were sliders served in little In-And-Out boxes, a nod to the Vanity Fair Oscar party. There was an overflowing buffet of food (I indulged in the short ribs and the duck wraps).

And the dessert. Ooooh, the dessert. Dulce de leche donuts, s’mores push pops…

But the best part of the evening was catching up with everyone. I’m lucky to like all of my husband’s coworkers and their significant others, and really enjoyed catching up with everyone.

I typically stick to the same formula when it comes to holiday party outfits – an MM.LaFleur dress, a pair of low statement heels, a piece of jewelry, and a classic bag.

And that’s exactly what I wore last night (plus, the loose fit of the dress allowed me to indulge in all the food).

But I did want to push myself out of my comfort zone and put together some new holiday party looks, for a project with Shopstyle and Pinterest (check it out here). And I quite enjoyed it.

There’s a winter white number that feels like wearing pajamas.

There are actual pajamas – but you’d never guess it.

There’s the pairing of two closet favorites that I’ve never worn together – a vintage treasure and my favorite LBD.

And then there’s the statement maker. I splurge on a Marchesa Notte dress every year (from here!), and this lace number was last year’s purchase. I reach for it for galas and fancy dinners (I wore it for our anniversary dinner at Per Se).For a more formal holiday party, it’s perfect.

While today’s outfit (workout leggings and a sweatshirt) is decidedly less glamorous, I love it just as much as these holiday party outfits.

Too bad it’s not quite as Instagrammable.

What I wore to last year’s holiday party, and another festive holiday outfit. I share a new outfit every Wednesday. You can find all of them here.
