What’s In My Bag – Short Flight

Short Flight Carry On Bag

This post is one of my most popular, and it turned inspired me to do more of those “What’s In My Bag” posts that frequent the blogosphere.

Being that I live my life in a constant frenzy, I thought it would (hopefully!) be helpful for you to share what I lug around when I’m on the go.

I recently packed this exact bag on last weekend’s flight to Tampa.  I consider any flight under 4 hours to be “short”, and thus usually ditch the laptop, the iPad, and even the noise canceling headphones (never again – spring break and being Florida bound does not make for a quiet flight).

Short Flight Carry On Bag 2

Sole Society bag (c/o) – fits a shockingly large amount of things.  Also seen here!
SELF magazine (to read during takeoff and landing)
Herban Essentials towelettes (to wipe down the arm rest and tray table) – headphones
Stephanie Johnson makeup bag (c/o) – iPhone in a Boostcase (no more dead batteries!) – Prada wallet
Bauble Bar bracelet (c/0) – Send The Trend earrings – Kindle – gum – Tory Burch travel socks

What do you pack for short flights, and what kind of bag do you use?  Do you like these posts, or am I being an annoying oversharer (you can be honest!).  LEAVE A COMMENT and let me know!  And if you love my travel content, be sure to sign up for my newsletter!

I travel a lot too, but probably not as much as you. I enjoy these posts and here’s what I pack for a short, non-business trip (business trips require that I lug the laptop, papers, and other tech):

    Fun tote with many pockets
    A shawl or big scarf
Tablet w/Zinio magazines and Kindle content
Spray sanitizer (I get loads of these at conferences)
    Samsung Galaxy S III phone
    In-ear headphones
A snack – usually almonds, a piece of fruit or a few hard boiled eggs.
mark. Hand it Over hand lotion

A collapsible water bottle. I find flights very dehydrating and like to refill my bottle in the airport.

Excellent options! Thank you for sharing!

  • These posts are great! Not even remotely oversharing :)

Thanks, Julie! I’ll be sure to post more of them :)

  • Glad to hear that I’m not the only person who packs special socks for airplane flights. Also, that bag is rad with a capital R.

Eileen, the bag is perfect for life in general. And hells yes to packing special socks. Those planes are cold and airport floors are DIRTY.

Love these posts! I’m new to your blog and have been loving the ‘en route with’ posts to see how different people approach traveling.

Thanks for stopping by, Ally! I appreciate the comment :)

  • I love these posts, keep ’em coming!

I have a weekend bag and giant purse that will both fit underneath the seat in front of me, so if I can get away with packing everything in those, I do it. That way I can grab and go as soon as the plane lands without trying to find/get my stuff out of the overhead bins.

Thank you Lisa! I’m so glad you enjoyed this post. I’m on the hunt for a new weekender bag – what are your recommendations?

      • My aunt made mine (and almost killed me in the process — apparently I have a knack for picking difficult projects!). I’ll probably suck it up and get a Lo & Sons eventually though, so I don’t have to carry such a giant purse to fit my iPad. Also have my eye on the new Kate Spade Saturday Weekender!

        • hithaonthego

I’m with you on the Saturday weekender. However, I just bit the bullet on a new leather duffel from Italy – something I’ve been wanting for a LONG time. You have you get on the Lo & Sons wagon – it’s a must-have for project heavy travelers!

  • So fun… Love the Prada wallet… I’m a little hesitant to do a “what’s in my bag” post since it would mostly consist of lip gloss, bobby pins and random scraps of paper…

Hope – I definitely cleaned out the receipts and other purse junk before photographing the bag. I highly recommend doing one of these posts!
