This Week

This Week

Many of my friends seem to be fleeing the city (first Julia, then Victoria, and now Hallie and Jess). Me, on the other hand, teared up at the sight of NYC as we made our way back on Sunday. Happy tears, of course.

I’ve missed it – the crowded sidewalks, the smells, and the palpable energy that I haven’t found anywhere else. It’s good to be back, and it’s the first place that’s felt like home.

This week, we have a few friends coming over for dinner and to meet Rho (Kitchensurfing to the rescue), an overdue girls’ night with Sonia, and heading back down to PA on Sunday. I’m doing my first live segment (all about packing for summer travels) on Fox 29, and couldn’t be more excited.

Or nervous.

On to the links.

  • The number one thing to NEVER say to your Indian friend.
  • A brutally honest self-reflection on Blake Lively’s first year in business. Celebrity-founded business are a dime a dozen, and the press around them is largely the same.  Not this article.
  • This throwback cocktail won’t leave you hungover. WIN.
  • Lorelai Gilmore Lauren Graham’s Grub Street Diet is the best thing I’ve read on the Internet this week. And sold me on her novel (also your sole book recommendation this week).
  • The truth about child care costs. We’re very privileged to have both of our parents living close by and who WANT to spend all their extra time with Rho. But my heart goes out to women who have to make the choice of career vs. staying at home based solely on finances. Thank goodness PowerToFly is changing all that.
  • Have you added a rowing workout to your rotation? You should. This one is a great starting point.

Have a wonderful rest of your week!
