This Week

I purposefully kept this week blocked off from any social activities.

Best. Decision. Ever.

It’s not to say I’m holed up in my apartment like a hermit.  Between work commitments, a volunteering project with Entrepreneurs@Athena, and my ongoing work with Alanna Bess jewelry, it’s been the perfect balance of enough work to keep me busy while maintaining my sanity.

No may be my new favorite word of my 30’s.

  • Blake Lively just launched her website Preserve.  I’m not a fan of the site’s design, but I did enjoy this article on New Orleans and this profile on bartender Bobby Hicks.  Thoughts?  Anyone else craving enchiladas after reading the editor’s letter?
  • Hallie has put together the perfect summer playlist.  I’ve been jamming to it on repeat.
  • I was simultaneously horrified and enthralled by this essay on being a professional party girl in the Hamptons.  One thing that never fails to surprise me about New York is just how different everyone’s life is.
  • Do yourself a favor and make this deliciously hydrating smoothie.  I can’t get enough of it.
  • On baby photos and the Internet.  This topic has been the subject of the “one day, when we’re parents” conversations my husband and I have.  Though I choose to live a more public life online, I agree with the author’s original decision to limit his child’s pictures on the shared Internet.  I’d love to know your thoughts!
  • Lisa wrote what I’ve been thinking for some time – mani/pedis can sometimes be the best business expense.
