The Hit List – June 2015

Byword app Ivanka Trump Tellas pumps So Money podcast Astronaut Wives Club show Younger Show Cyc Fitness

This may be a Hit List first – no book recommendations.

I’m sorry. Truly, I am. But the only new book I finished was Luckiest Girl Alive, and it was awful. Save your time and go check out Jaclyn’s blog if you need book recommendations. I’ll get on my literary game next month.

Television, on the other hand, seemed to provide the perfect relaxation outlet this month. I spent my free moments devouring episodes of Younger, Astronaut Wives Club, and Odd Mom Out. All are excellent, though I’m particularly in love with AWC – the 60’s fashion, the politics behind space exploration, the badass women. Love. LOVE. I also got hooked on a few new podcasts. So Money with Farnoosh Torabi – so. good. I love Farnoosh’s interview style, and the fact that she makes personal finance into something I consider a must-listen is no small feat. Accounting/finance management = my most dreaded tasks. I don’t loathe them nearly as much anymore. History nerds should check out Emperors of Rome – so. freaking. good. You couldn’t write a better screenplay trilogy than Roman history, and it’s been wonderful to revisit my degree focus in such an entertaining way.

Byword was a lifesaver of epic proportions. I wrote my manuscript in every spare moment I had – at my desk, rocking my son to sleep, in cabs, at coffeeshops. The app seamlessly saved my latest draft in iCloud so I could pick up where I left off. Any device, any time. If you find yourself writing a lot, I highly recommend downloading it and splurging for the iCloud syncing.

And to round it out, the random things that helped me survive June. Chorizo tacos from Choza Taqueria – I must have ordered these every other day (and sometimes every day). *burp* Ivanka Trump’s ‘Tellas’ pumps have been a fresh addition to my shoe collection – incredibly comfortable, stylish, and the bright white is so perfect for summer. My favorite spin studio, Cyc Fitness, just opened up in Hell’s Kitchen. I love it so much that I splurged for the unlimited monthly membership and make it to the early morning classes.
