The Hit List – July 2015

Hit List July 2015

Well, that blog hiatus was longer than I expected. I’m sorry!

I’m still not back in 3-4 posts per week territory, but I’m excited to be checking in with my random favorites from this past month.

Emphasis on the random.

Thanks to Grace, my new morning jolt is an iced dirty chai latte (basically, a chai latte with a shot of espresso). I make my own at home with this chai concentrate (shhh, don’t tell my mother) and my Nespresso. So. Damn. Good. As is Mocha-Mazing, which is a particular Nourish Snack that my husband seems to steal before I have a chance to try it. This snack + Greek yogurt = an excellent (and fast!) breakfast. Bonus – you can get 10% off your next Nourish Snacks order using the code HITHAONTHEGO. My style has been all over the place this month, but I’m always wearing either my Chanel flats (scored them on the The RealReal!) or my Darth Vader Vans. They are as opposite as shoes can get, but they’re both comfortable, easy to slip on, and go with just about everything. My Madewell mirrored sunglasses have been a mainstay as well. I love how light they are and how they add just a little something to my typically haggard look. I bought this stuffed globe for Rho last month, which was a huge hit with him. When he’s asleep, I find myself using it as a headrest or checking it to see where a specific country is. It’s rare, but I love it when Rho’s favorite toys work as great decor items in our home.

And to what you usually come here for – the reads! I dipped back into the historical fiction waters with The Wedding Shroud, which was…good. Interesting story, quite accurate from a historical perspective, but the writing and pacing of the book was just so-so. I *really* loved Better Than Before by Gretchen Rubin, where I identified myself as a rebel and am now trying to craft habits in a way that work for me. Admittedly, I didn’t read many books because I was devouring magazines thanks to NextIssue, a nifty app that gives you access to the best magazines (think Vanity Fair, The New Yorker, and US Weekly) for a flat fee a month ($10/month for unlimited access to monthly magazines, $15/month for weekly). I read 3-5 articles every night and it’s been a nice change from my usual binge read of a novel. LOVE.
