The Devil Wears Prada is one of those movies I can watch countless times without getting sick of it. The witty dialogue, a tolerable Anne Hathaway, and the clothes. The line that never fails to elicit a giggle from me is Miranda Priestly’s famous “Florals, for spring? How groundbreaking.”
These outfits may not win any bonus points from Madame Priestly, but like her famous line, they make me happy. As does great weather, which Memorial Day Weekend was sorely lacking. I’m not complaining – it gave me the chance to catch up on books, give my apartment a much-needed scrub down, and get my fill of Arrested Development, Martin Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch – our addiction with Sherlock, The Hobbit, and Star Trek continue (as does our love for all things mystery/fantasy/sci-fi – we’re a very nerdy couple).
And with jam-packed week on deck, followed by two weeks of travel (Chicago, Cape Cod, and DC – I’m headed your way!), a cozy weekend at home is precisely what I needed.

For New Yorkers, Central Park is a necessity. There’s nowhere else in the city where you can escape the heat, and while it’s not yet summer this day was a scorcher. Under the shade of the park, Kat and I frolicked and photographed each other before escaping to the cool air-conditioning of Essex House for cocktails and a good gossip. We then went to meet up with our men – she to TriBeCa for a dinner, and me to Chelsea to catch Iron Man 3 in IMAX 3D. For me, there are few better ways to kick off a weekend.
And can we talk about how good Old Navy is right now? The blouse emulates the bohemian feel of this Isabel Marant piece (I also love this one), and the subtle brocade fabric of the pants are a budget friendly version of these from J.Crew. A win for my wardrobe AND my wallet. The heels – been wearing them nonstop since I got them a few weeks ago. Shiny AND comfortable? Another win.

When it was long, my usual love-hate relationship with my hair was mostly hate. Unless it was professionally blown out or thrown up in a sock bun, it was pretty much a disaster. This new haircut, though, has returned the love back to my hair relationship. Now, if only I could get my hair to look like this again.
The weather has been less than desirable as of late here in NYC – the fact that we still have to don jackets in May is, quite frankly, absurd. Especially coming off the heels of hot, humid weather from last Friday. If one must wear clothes better suited for March, my beloved Old Navy pants and my new favorite sweater from Margaret O’Leary fit the bill. Which I apparently wore backwards.
What’s one thing about this season that’s been getting you down? The weather, for me, takes the cake. Give me 70 degrees and sun for the foreseeable future, and I’ll be thrilled.
