Ivanka Trump footwear

Queen of Hearts

My work wardrobe is full of classics (read: black).  While I love wearing prints and bright colors the rest of the time, the collection of black jersey dresses I’ve amassed is either impressive or pathetic.  I scored this dress on eBay’s Fashion Vault at a deep discount, and fell in love with the bright hue and the Queen of Hearts-esque neckline.  Taking a cue from Blake Lively’s book, I kept the rest of the look simple – hair scraped into a ponytail and simple black accessories.  Wearing this bright hue gave me the extra boost of confidence during my presentation today – a trick I plan to use again and highly recommend to you all.

Black and Tan, Part II

Ann Taylor dress and cuff, Coach watch,
Ivanka Trump heels, Knomo laptop bag -

I jumped on the sleeveless trench trend after seeing Christine and Helena style the piece.  It’s the perfect late summer/early fall topper to the classic black dress I donned for a half-day meeting.  This evil eye scarf is one of my favorite pieces; it adds a splash of color while satisfying my superstitious ways.  After banging up my computer to no end in my oversized bags, I invested in this Knomo bag (as seen on Pippa Middleton – don’t judge).  I love both the black quilted exterior and the tracking device in the bag, should I misplace my life laptop.  And it’s no secret how much I love these shoes…though I’m starting to expand to higher heels (complete with a sturdy platform).

While I tend to stick to the classic shades of black and tan for work, I promise I own colorful, work-appropriate clothing.   More colorful ensembles to come soon!

When I find something I like, I tend to buy them in bulk. These Ivanka Trump heels are the ultimate chic, comfortable pumps – and budget-friendly (I’m already eyeing this color to add to my collection). After spotting these American Apparel clutches on many of my favorite blogs, I took the plunge and bought one…and bought three more soon after. The bright yellow leather and coral “alligator” have been under my arm all summer, and I suspect they’ll transition into my fall outfits as well. Cozy scarves are a must have for me when traveling, and I’ve slowly been building up my collection of mantra scarves from Sir Alistair Rai. I love the Sanskirt print and the embroidered word on each scarf, and it’s the perfect size for wrapping around your shoulders and taking a nap on the plane. I tend to have one of each of these items with me whenever traveling; in the case of my overdue trip to Philadelphia, I packed the blue clutch, “Adore” scarf, and black pumps (not shown).
