NYC Diary 4.8.2013

Monday night can go down as one of the most epic.  Ever.

It started with a innocent text from my friend Megan – “Hey, do you like Fleetwood Mac?”

Rumours is, hands down, my all-time favorite album.  I love Fleetwood Mac’s entire anthology (and Stevie Nicks’ solo work too!), but Rumours will always have a special place in my heart.  It was one of my first CDs, and the one I reached to when I needed a sense of comfort or stability.  Rumours got me through a rough first year in London, 3 moves my freshman year of high school, constant fights with my parents in college, and plenty of bouts of turbulence in the air.  It’s my security blanket.

If a friend could be a security blanket, like Rumours is for me, then that’s who Megan is.  Having first met her through her blog a number of years ago, we were blog/Twitter friends for some years before we finally met – over brunch in my first weekend as a New York resident.  The meal flew by, and we ended up spending most of the day together just chatting our heads off.  We bonded over the obvious (social media, living in NYC, sports) and the inane (a mutual love for bacon, Willie Geist, Meet The Press, The West Wing) and have been close ever since. In all the time I’ve “known” her, Megan’s been diligently working on Style Girlfriend – her one stop shop for men looking to spruce up his style without forking over a wad of cash.  To see her grow and be recognized – I’m so immensely proud of her.  And when she gets great opportunities from amazing companies like Lexus, and lets me tag along for the ride, I’m even more proud and thrilled.

Now, it only seemed appropriate that Lexus sponsored our experience at the event, as I’ve been a longtime fan of the car manufacturer.  My husband and I currently drive my father’s other daughter SC430, which is far more fun than we deserve.  My family keeps their cars for well over a decade, and they tend to become members of our family.  “The Babe” is no exception, and since Lexus no longer makes our beloved SC, it means all the more to us.

So, long story short – Lexus treated Megan and I to one incredible night.  We had a blast.  Stevie Nicks is still the woman I aspire to be when I grow up.  Lindsay Buckingham is the man I want my husband to be in 30 years.  And I’m forever spoiled when it comes to concerts, and the transportation to and from said concerts.
