NYC Diary 3.5.2013

It’s been a while since my last NYC Diary, and that may have something to do with the fact that I’m huddled up inside, with a full stock of DAVIDsTEA, cozy blankets, and the entire Star Trek anthology on Netflix (hello, I’m Hitha and I’m a massive geek).

And while winter’s chill has yet to leave Manhattan, I did venture outside yesterday for a pick-me-up hair appointment and a tennis date night with my husband.

First stop – Dream Dry, the new blow-out salon.

I’m obsessed.  I’ve been a Drybar fan since it opened its New York doors, but I’m impressed how Dream Dry has differentiated themselves – incredibly early opening times (6:30 am!), the use of Oribe products exclusively, both updo and down hair options, and express sessions with dry shampoo.

A loyalty program is a major win for me.  My “Brigitte”, courtesy of Anthony, came out beautifully and is still looking beautiful today.  I’ve already made an appointment for next Wednesday morning, fresh off my flight from India.

That evening, we made our way to Madison Square Garden to watch my favorite tennis player (Rafa!), and some other people, play in the BNP Paribas Showdown.

Tennis is the only sport my husband and I both love, and follow religiously.  Despite this being an exhibition match, all players (Serena Williams, Victoria Azarenka, Juan Martin del Potro, and my beloved Nadal) were playing at their highest skill level.  They also had a little fun – Azarenka called on Red Foo from LMFAO to play a few points against Serena (seen above), and Nadal and del Potro called on Ben Stiller and a young tennis prodigy to play each other (sadly, my phone died at this point).

All in all, one of my favorite New York City days.  And the perfect send-off, as I’m flying out to India for a quick week today.

Talk to me – what are some of the fun things you’ve done this winter?  I’d love to know!
