Impromptu Dinner Party

I’ve always been a fan of entertaining; it’s a trait I inherited from my parents. My fondest childhood memories are of setting up the plates and flatware for the buffet dinner, welcoming guests and accepting their coats, and retiring to the basement with my friends to play (or rather watch the boys play) video games. While we’ve had friends over to our apartment, it usually involved ordering in food and watching a game or movie. Last Friday, we properly entertained a few friends with a comfort food, simple drinks, and a relaxing atmosphere. A solid meal and hilarious conversation (the question of the night being “For $10,000, would you rather have a Birkin or the best surround sound system?”) was the perfect way to kick off the weekend.

Menu – Turkey-quinoa meatloaf with a ketchup-Sriracha sauce, beet salad, apples confit with vanilla bean ice-cream
Drinks – Skinnygirl Sangria and Chateau St. Michelle cabernet sauvignon
Music – The Gotan Project, Thievery Corporation, Rodrigo y Gabriela (Spotify playlist here)
Decor – candles (I like to add a lit candle in a dark bathroom as well), lit lanterns, red tea roses
Outfit – Zara blouse, Urban Outfitters skirt, gifted Bauble Bar earrings, Ann Taylor cuff
