My wardrobe is full of basic staples – tailored Oxfords, inky black leggings, structured clutches, and a variety of trench coats. Â Lately, I’ve been reaching for staples with a edgy twist – faux leather leggings instead of cotton, brightly colored clutches instead of neutrals, and capes instead of basic coats. Â On a mild November day, I selected the edgier pieces for errands, a visit to Drybar (more on that later), drinks with Carolyn, and dinner with my husband and his visiting friends from Germany. Â While my poor blowout suffered casualties from the rain that night, the rest of my outfit remained classically edgy.
